The kit and video tutorials are good for both right and left handed crafters. You can switch the video to either hand. The plastic eyes are safety eyes, but there is also instructions to embroider the eyes if you are making this for a small child or a pet. 

I have made Pierre the Penguin and Joe the Coffee Mug and am very impressed with the quality of the yarn and the great, easy to follow instructions. (I am a fairly good crocheter, but these kits were still amazing!!)
